Car Insurance Hyundai (Car Insurance). I have a 1997 Cadillac Eldorado that is leaking fuel. Is it true GMC has to fix this problem.?I have a 1997 Cadillac Eldorado that is leaking fuel. Is it true GMC has to fix this problem.? I did my research on this car and the fuel lines had a recall on this make and modle for leaking/cracking fuel lines and that Cadillac has to fix it. Is this true? I'm not the original owner but do have all the original receipts and what not for this car. Any Caddy dealer can run your VIN number & see if your car was in the recall & if the recall work was ever done. Take it to a Cadillac dealer and ask if there is a recall active on the car if there is and it has to do with the gas lines you may be in luck. You have to realize that recalls do not stay active forever. You may even be able to call the dealer and ask for them to check it out. When you turn the ignition key forward, the relay tells the fuel pump to start sending fuel toward the engine. If the relay fails to do its job, your engine will not receive fuel. A defective fuel pump relay will not prevent your engine from turning over when you attempt to start it. However, damage to other engine components can occur from the extended crank times. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Socket wrench set Relay puller pliers Step by Step : 1 Raise the hood on your LeSabre and stand in front of the headlight on the driver's side. Just above the headlight within the engine compartment, you should see a rectangular, black plastic cover. This is your Buick LeSabre's power distribution center. It houses critical fuses and relays necessary to your car operating correctly. 2 Take the plastic cover off the power distribution center. There may be a plastic tab retaining the cover, depending on the model LeSabre you have. With the cover removed, stand before the power distribution center so that the square relays within it visually appear horizontal. 3 Locate the fuel pump relay in the lineup of relays within the power distribution center. If you're looking at the relays from the correct position, you should see two horizontal rows of five. 4 Count from the right over to the third relay in the top row. This is your LeSabre's rear defogger relay; directly below it is the fuel pump relay. Tips & Warnings If you have to remove the relay, use a pair of relay puller pliers. Disconnect the negative battery cable beforehand to prevent accidental shock. If it is not delivering fuel, or if it is delivering too much fuel, too little fuel or fuel in spurts, your car is going to cough, spit, sputter and stall as if it were out of gas. 4 Check the power to your fuel pump by connecting a voltage meter to the vehicle's fuel pump wiring. How the voltage meter will connect depends on your type of vehicle. Turn the car on, but do not attempt to start it. If your fuel pump is not getting any power, than the problem is likely to be in your wiring and not with the pump itself. If your fuel pump is getting plenty of steady power but can not be heard turning on, then chances are it is the fuel pump itself that is broken.
